Sydney & Marcus
Marcus and I met in Huntsville, TX the fall of 2014. I was attending grad school at Sam Houston State University and Marcus was from Huntsville and had previously graduated from Sam. I got involved with the First Baptist Church of Huntsville when I moved there and they had a college Bible study group led by one of the professors from Sam. Marcus and I met at this Bible study. We didn't interact very much at first, but once we found out that we both liked the NBA we started to become good friends. His favorite team is the Houston Rockets and mine is the Denver Nuggets, so naturally we would give each other a hard time about the other persons team, especially when my team would beat his or vice versa. We also started playing indoor soccer together through the church. We are pretty competitive, so we loved to play against each other and see who could score more goals each Monday. It was in that gym, playing soccer that we started to fall for one another. Everyone saw the connection between us. It took about 10 months after that before we actually started dating. I told him he took long enough to ask me out. He just laughed and said he had to make sure I wasn't crazy before he started dating me. We dated 9 months and 8 days before he popped the question. From early on in the relationship we both knew that our relationship was leading to marriage. We had a date for the wedding picked out before he even proposed. I told him that he needed to give me at least 6 months to plan the wedding. So on September 24th, 2016, he took me out to the lighthouse at Hefner Lake. After a fun filled evening of dinner and the drive-in, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. We cannot wait to spend the rest of our lives together!
